Ignitable liquid (IGL) detection canine, accelerant-detection canine, or arson dog, whatever name you use, they mean the same thing. These canines are specially trained to detect and locate the presence of ignitable liquids or accelerants, that are commonly used by arsonists to start and spread fires.
The public sector has been using canines for nearly 50 years now, with great success. However, very few private-sector fire investigators want the responsibility or expense of maintaining a trained and certified IGL canine. That’s where FIRE K9 comes in. We are here to provide ignitable liquid detection services on a case-by-case basis.

The US Department of Justice, State Fire Marshals, and local Fire Departments have for years utilized ignitable liquid detection canines On the other hand, there has been very limited access to an IGL K9 for those working in the private sector. We are here to change that!

By utilizing the canines’ exceptional olfactory capabilities, FIRE K9 can locate ignitable liquids, (commonly referred to as flammable liquids or accelerants) at fire and explosion scenes, that otherwise go undetected.
Cross Contamination Screening
FIRE K9 provides cross contamination screening for your team members and their tools. Our services help prevent IGL from the driveway, parking lot, street, or previous fire scene from entering the scene.
Sample Verification
FIRE K9 provides onsite sample verification prior to laboratory submittal. Sample analysis is expensive and laboratory resources are finite. Verifying that a sample has an IGL before submittal saves money and resources.
Collects Samples for Laboratory Analysis
Fire K9 collects samples for laboratory analysis using the most up to date methods and procedures, and therefore delivers the most accurate results possible. All our collected samples are bagged and canned, providing the best possible sample for laboratory analysis.
Work Independently or Alongside
FIRE K9 teams can work independently or alongside your fire and explosion investigation team members.
Regular Rigorous Training and Annual Recertification
FIRE K9 teams undergo regular rigorous training and annual recertification.
